Two New Higher Vocational Programs in Health and Elderly Care!

Recently, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education issued the Notice on Publishing the List of New Non-Nationally Controlled Higher Vocational Programs for 2025 (Liao Jiao Tong (hereinafter) 2025] No. 66). The two programs applied by our university—Nursing and Geriatric Health and Management—were successfully approved, marking a new breakthrough in the construction of higher vocational education programs in the health and elderly care fields at our institution.  


The Nursing program (Program Code: 520201) addresses the needs of China’s socialist modernization and the development of the nursing industry. It aims to cultivate high-quality, application-oriented nursing professionals who possess fundamental theoretical knowledge, professional skills, strong ethical standards, humanistic qualities, practical abilities, and innovative spirit. The curriculum covers foundational nursing, health assessment, medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child nursing, geriatric nursing, and community nursing. Students will master core knowledge and skills in the nursing field. Upon graduation, they will be qualified to work in clinical nursing, community nursing, elderly care, rehabilitation nursing, and preventive healthcare at hospitals, community health centers, elderly care institutions, and similar organizations.  

The Geriatric Health and Management program (Program Code: 520803) is designed to meet the practical demands of socioeconomic development and population aging. It aims to cultivate application-oriented professionals skilled in elderly health assessment, health education, and counseling, capable of addressing the needs of an aging society and improving the quality of life and health of the elderly. The curriculum spans geriatric medicine, rehabilitation, nursing, nutrition, psychology, and management, integrating practical skills with innovative thinking. Students will acquire fundamental theories, knowledge, and practical skills in elderly health care and management. Graduates can work in elderly care institutions, engaging in health assessment, caregiving, rehabilitation, activity planning, and management of integrated medical and elderly care facilities.
