On November 9, 2024, Association of Fundamental Computing Education in Chinese Universities together with the Higher Education Digital Intelligence Evaluation Center of Zhejiang University City College and the National Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Teacher Teaching Development, released the “National Index for the Development of Fundamental Computing Education in Chinese Universities" (hereinafter referred to as the "Index") for the first time. Dalian Neusoft University of Information ranks first among newly established universities in China, and is also included in the “Top 20 Development Index of Fundamental Computing Education in National Science and Engineering Universities" along with many "Double First Class" universities.

The collection of index data began in 1989, mainly examining the award and project data related to computer basic teaching in national level universities. The data mainly comes from the raw data of the “National Teaching Development Index for Colleges and University Teachers" of the China Association of Higher Education (totaling more than 400, 000 records), and data related to computer basic teaching has been extracted for analysis. The indicator system for the development of Fundamental Computing teaching in universities covers “7+1” primary indicators, 33 secondary indicators, and 64 tertiary indicators, involving teacher teams, educational reform projects, curriculum projects, textbook projects, teaching papers, teaching achievement awards, teaching competitions and teaching organizations, general computer competitions, etc. The first and second level indicator systems are shown in the following figure:

The development index of fundamental computing teaching in universities has reached 664, accounting for 50.76% of the total number of ordinary  colleges and universities in China. Dalian Neusoft University of Information ranks 29th among the listed universities, ranking first among private universities in China.
