On January 7, the award ceremony of the 6th “People’s China Cup” International Competition of Japanese Translation was successfully concluded in Guangdong Province. Our university has won 1 first prize, the top prize, 3 second prizes and 12 third prizes, and our school has won the excellent organization award.
Under active organization and arrangement of the leaders in the School of Foreign Languages, and under the careful guidance of the participating instructors, the students continued the strong momentum of the previous competition and won many awards this time. Contestants of the undergraduate group won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 9 third prizes in “Japanese-Chinese Translation”, and 1 third prize in “Chinese-Japanese Translation”; students in the College Japanese group had 1 second prize in the “Japanese-Chinese Translation”, and 1 third prize in the “Chinese-Japanese Translation”; and in professional teacher group, we won 1 third prize in the “Japanese-Chinese Translation”. Since the fourth competition, our students have secured the first prize for three consecutive years, ranking among the top of universities in northeast China.
This competition is co-sponsored by the Center for Asia-Pacific of China International Communications Group (People’s China Magazine) and the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of Japanese Major from the Ministry of Education, co-organized by the Japanese Language Teaching & Research Association of China and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and hosted by the Translators Association of Guangdong Province. Feng Yunqi, a teacher from the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages, and Yu Jiming, a student who won the first prize, were invited to attend the award ceremony.
