On the afternoon of September 28, the Dalian Neusoft University of Information 2025 Freshman Opening Ceremony and the 2024-2025 Academic Year Commendation Conference were held at the Software Park Campus sports ground. The university leadership, heads of various departments and schools, teachers, and alumni representatives gathered to witness the new students embark on their university journey. The ceremony was hosted by Lu Jing, Director of the Party Committee Office and the President's Office.

Amidst the solemn national anthem, the Five-Star Red Flag rose slowly, and all faculty and students stood in respectful attention.

President Guo Quan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the university, he extended a warm welcome to the grade of 2025. Starting from the military training the students had just completed, he discussed the significance of university as an important "training ground" in life, encouraging students to "hone their skills and refine their talents" on the platform built through the university's 25 years of educational accumulation. He also recounted the university's history and its achievements, including national-level teaching awards, the development of first-class majors and courses, and the establishment of modern industry schools.

Guo Quan pointed out that this is an era of surging innovation and intelligent transformation, where changes in the world, the times, and history are unfolding in unprecedented ways. He told the students they are a generation whose rhythm resonates with the nation's development and rejuvenation. He placed deep hopes in the new students. First, to set lofty aspirations and walk with the nation, becoming striving undertakers who integrate personal ideals into the broader context of national development, closely linking their specialized studies with national strategies and societal needs, and writing a youth without regret on the journey of building a strong nation; second, to dare to be pioneers and brave the tide, becoming solvers who face the future, striving to become creators of new knowledge and pioneers of new technologies, actively embracing the technological frontier, cultivating an innovative spirit and critical thinking, making exploration a habit, and using innovation to answer the questions of the times; third, to study diligently, practice steadfastly, and hone their abilities, becoming practical doers who integrate knowledge and action, both taking deep root in their professional fields to increase the depth of their learning, and daring to cross boundaries, integrate, and grow upward to increase the breadth of their learning, thereby promoting action through knowledge and seeking knowledge through action, growing through practice and breaking through through solid work.

Guo Quan encouraged the students to make most of the university built on ideals, responsibility, and warmth, build the knowledge with diligence and breadth and connect it to the real world through application and to advance with determination steadily, unlock yourselves, and shape the future!

The 2024-2025 Academic Year Commendation Conference was held on-site. Vice Presidents Shen Hua, Li Yingqiu, and Zhang Jin read out the decisions to commend outstanding university collectives and individuals, the decisions to award scholarships, the announcements commending students who received National (Provincial Government) Scholarships and National Endeavor Scholarships, and the decisions to commend students who received Huaitian Scholarships. University leaders presented honorary certificates to representative awardees.

Zhuang Chenyi from the “Spark” Innovation Pilot Class spoke as a representative of all the students of Grade 2025. He shared his feelings and gains from the military training and expressed his determination, at this new starting point in life, to be an undertaker of moral integrity, a seeker of relentless learning and a practitioner of “all-round development”.

Guo Yulin, a student of Grade 2023 from the School of Artificial Intelligence and recipient of the Huaitian Scholarship, spoke as a representative of the award-winning students. He shared his growth experience from being a novice in research to obtaining a patent, encouraging his fellow students to delve into exploration empowered by digital intelligence on the university's broad platform and to forge ahead with intelligent interconnection.

Liu Zeming, a graduate of Class 2010, co-founder of Estun Cuzo Technology Co., Ltd., and Servo Drive Control Technical Director, spoke as an alumni representative. He stated that his alma mater's cultivation had a profound impact on his career development and advised the fellow students to cherish their university time and let their youth blossom brilliantly in the tide of the times.

Luo Wei from the School of Software spoke as a faculty representative. He said that university is a critical stage for character shaping, and he hopes the students will put in effort, gain wisdom, and shape their character and noble values at DNUI. The teachers will be good mentors and friends to the students, accompanying them in their growth.

At the end of the ceremony, all the freshmen stood up, raised their right fists, and solemnly pledged: "Strengthen our ideals and beliefs, inherit the Neusoft spirit, bravely shoulder the heavy responsibilities of the times, and hoist the sail of mission..." Over 25 years since its establishment, Dalian Neusoft University of Information has cultivated more than 80,000 graduates in total. They forge ahead in their respective fields, creating value for society, which is the best testament to the university's philosophy that "Education Creates the value of Students."
