The first six-month National GIS Skills Contest was concluded on November 15th in one of the cities of southern Guangdong province, Shenzhen. Li Yifan, Yin Chao, Liu Wenming and Ge Xiaohui from Department of Computer Science and Technology, instructed by Teacher Zhou Hui and Teacher Dong Zongran, were divided into two teams to attend the contest. After fierce competition, they achieved National 2nd prize respectively in Senior Group and Junior Group. Teacher Zhou Hui and Teacher Dong Zongran won the Prize of Instructor. This contest was hosted by the Ministry of Education Geography Information System Software and Applied Engineering Research Center, with more than two hundred colleges and over three thousand college students attending the contest. The students who won over the third prize could be exempted from the exam and acquire the certificate of “MAPGIS Applied Engineer” issued by the Ministry of Education GIS Engineering Center and the First Level certificate of “National GIS Applications Level Examination” issued by the Department of Industry and Information.
