Summary and Achievements of Practical Semester of DNUI in 2014

Practical semester of 2013-2014 school year came to an end in September. Each department carried out practical semester’s project-oriented education in accordance with the cooperation between university and enterprise. It improved the innovative practice ability of the student and strengthenedschool’s social influence.
In this practical semester, ten real enterprise projects were modified and implemented into second-level project by Department of Computer Science and Technology.Some projects like Stable Assets Management System were accomplished under the instructions of experts both from campus and enterprise, which had received recognition and good comments from enterprises.
Based on the real platform “INEUSOFT”, Department of Information Technology and Business Management covered the whole chains of E-Commerce expansion, system development, HR management and improved thestudents’ practical abilities and specialized qualities in the realenvironment ofenterprises.
The project of Department ofElectronic Engineering aims at cultivating application ability, focusing on the improvement of the practical skills of students. With complementary programs both in and after class, the project consists of a series of contests such as Programming Contest (C Language), Intellectual Vehicle Design Competition etc. and has promoted an exploring spirit and healthy competition among the students.
The Department of Digital Arts introduced 4 practical projects in the practicalsemester. One of the projects “Portrait of Dalian in the Tiger Beach Park” included students’ works presenting the beauty of the city and the characteristic city culture, thus received a high praise from the society. Students’ practical skills and creative ability were largely improved in the process of the project.
English Department received demands from many enterprises for various businesses, including recruitment, annual meeting, market research and new product launch. The students formulated detailed plans in English, completed a variety of tasks under the teachers’ guidance and presented the requested documents as scheduled.
Japanese Department invited a few professionals from companies to give lectures on the use of Japanese language in business. The students were provided an opportunity to visit the companies, acquiring a clear understanding of the actual working environment and procedure, thus enhancing their language proficiency as well as professional awareness.
As the first practical project for Russian Department of DNUISchool of International Education in the practical semester, a Top Interview Program was introduced to deepen the students’ understanding of Russian culture and enhance their language proficiency through providing real-life situations and cultural background knowledge as well as a simulated interview procedure.
