Our students achieve new breakthroughs in the National Finals of the Sino-US Youth Maker Competition

On October 19, 2023, the award ceremony of the "Dreaming for Ten Years, Creating the Future Together" 2023 Sino-US Youth Maker Competition National Finals and the 10th Anniversary Celebration were held at Tsinghua University. Led by Guan Yi, a teacher from the School of Information and Business Management, our school's team achieved outstanding results in the main competition group, winning the national first prize, as well as the second and third prizes in the Shenyang regional competition, marking a new breakthrough for our school in this event! Teacher Guan Yi was honored with the title of Outstanding Instructor.

The project "Feathered Flight - Micro High-Precision Adaptive Biomimetic Flapping Wing Aircraft," which won the national first prize in the main competition group, mainly researched micro biomimetic flapping-wing aircraft. This is an aircraft based on the principles of biomimetics and simulating the movement of insect wings, manufactured by using high-tech materials and technologies, generating lift through the high-speed rotation of its fan blades to achieve flight.

Representing the team, student Liu Huinan exchanged maker experiences with teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and other universities, inspiring our university students' innovative entrepreneurship, igniting youth with innovation, and paving the way for the future with entrepreneurship!

The Sino-US Youth Maker Competition is organized by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and jointly undertaken by the China (Ministry of Education) Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Tsinghua University, Beijing Gehua Cultural Development Group Co., Ltd., Intel Corporation, and the China University Science and Technology Park Alliance. It is a highlight event of cultural exchanges between China and the United States and an important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. After years of cultivation, the scale of the competition continues to expand, and the level continues to improve, forming unique highlights that encourage Chinese and American youth to freely explore, collaborate, innovate, and promote friendship, making important contributions to enhancing friendship between Chinese and American youth and promoting cultural exchanges between China and the United States. Since the first competition held in 2014, it has attracted more than 50,000 Chinese and American youth participants, generating over 13,000 works.
