The final of the 8th XJTLU National University Teaching Innovation Award was held in XJTLU (Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University) on May 20 and 21. A total of 51 teachers and teams from universities like Dalian Neusoft University of Information, Beihang University and Nankai University, participated to win the annual teaching innovation awards. More than 100,000 teachers and education enthusiasts watched and interacted the final online and offline. Finally, Sun Qingwen, a teacher from the School of Computer and Software of our university, won the outstanding award, and Zhang Lei, a teacher from the School of Foreign Languages, won the second prize. Our school was also awarded the “Recognition Award for Teacher Development”.

 At the same time, the competition also selected the annual teaching innovation third prize, recognition award, participation award and other awards through the rigorous process of data preliminary review, public review, and expert letter evaluation. Guo Qiaoli and Jia Ning, teachers from the School of Computer and Software of our university, won the third prize; another thirty-one teachers won the recognition award and seven teachers won the participation award.

Starting on July 3, 2022, the competition attracted a total of 775 groups of 2227 university teachers and teams to participate. After the preliminary review of data, public review, expert letter review, field research and other review sessions, 51 groups were shortlisted for the final. After two days of final competition on May 20 and 21, 2023, five groups of outstanding award, fifteen groups of annual teaching innovation first prize and 31 groups of annual teaching innovation second prize were selected.

The XJTLU National University Teaching Innovation Award, organized by XJTLU, aims to discover and reward a group of higher education teachers who take “student-centered” as their teaching philosophy, and spread innovative measures of “student-centered” teaching. It was incorporated into the teaching competition section of the National College Teachers’ Teaching Development Index by the China Association of Higher Education.
