Good morning, everyone!

Today, we gather in the beautiful Neusoft campus to solemnly hold the 2021 student graduation ceremony of Dalian Neusoft University of Information, and jointly witness 3511 graduates successfully complete their studies and start a new journey in life. Here, on behalf of all the teachers and students of the school, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you! At the same time, I also express my high respect and heartfelt thanks to your parents who have raised you hard and your teachers who have taught you carefully!

These days, I can often see students taking pictures on campus. You are full of vitality and confidence; I can also often hear the customized graduation song “Shoulder to Shoulder at The End of the World”, and feel your attachment to your alma mater. Four years ago, the young you and the enterprising Neusoft met as promised, fought together with the wind and rain, shared responsibility, and witnessed each other’s growth and harvest. Over the past four years, you have witnessed the continuous advancement of your alma mater in the university rankings, the remarkable achievements of the university in the mixed education and teaching reform, the fruitful achievements in the construction of first-class majors and first-class courses, the significant improvement of the school’s scale and conditions, and the steady improvement of Neusoft’s talent training quality.

In these four years, you turned your endeavor into a habit and helped your dreams with diligence. You were unwilling to be a “lying young man” and refused to be “curled up”. You showed your thirst for knowledge in class, wrote hard in the library, sweat like rain on the playground, passed all kinds of competitions and showed your strengths in community activities... This is what you look like in the eyes of your alma mater. Now, you bid farewell to your alma mater, break the waves and go to your own sea. Some students will be promoted to famous universities at home and abroad for further study, some students will go to famous enterprises to start their career dreams, some students insist on doing solid work, innovation and entrepreneurship, and some students devote themselves to national defense construction to realize the dream of serving the country and strengthening the army. I am sincerely happy for your growth and proud of your achievements!

College graduation is a key “system iteration” in life. The journey of life is long, and we will continue to “fix bugs, patch and upgrade” in the future. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with lifelong “technical support”:

You should have the quality of self-discipline and commitment to the society. Since ancient times, China has attached great importance to the close combination of correct moral cognition, conscious moral cultivation and positive moral practice. As a contemporary youth, students should cultivate their morality and keep the unity of knowledge and practice. Moral cultivation includes not only the great virtue of loving the motherland and socialism, but also the cultivation of social morality and personal morality. A person can achieve great cause only by being enlightened, abiding by public morality and strict with private morality.

You should have the integrity to aim high. General secretary Xi Jinping once said that youth’s lofty aspirations can stimulate the potential of endeavor, and youth will not be like a boat without a rudder. The brilliance of life comes from the brilliance of dreams. The height of goals determines the height of achievements. Ambition is the internal driving engine of action, which inspires a person to move in a given direction. As a contemporary youth, you should strengthen your ideals and beliefs, always maintain your childlike heart, take the initiative to integrate the youth dream into the Chinese dream, forge lofty aspirations and stick to the road of tenacity.

You should have the ability of erudition and versatility. Under the background of the current information age and learning society, learning is no longer confined to books and majors, but interdisciplinary thinking collision and ideological confrontation. As contemporary youth, you should break the mindset, actively explore new fields and try new directions with a more open and inclusive attitude, broaden your horizons, enrich your imagination, stimulate your creativity, being well-grounded and profound insight.

You must sincerely carry out practical work and innovation. The greatest truths are the simplest. Practical work comes the first. A person’s achievements depend on down-to-earth, pioneering, innovative and perseverant spirit. Youth is the prime time to temper will and character, cultivate innovative thinking and increase wisdom and talents. We should not only be dreamers, but also doers. As a contemporary youth, students should dare to be first and break through, explore a new path of development with new ideas and measures, go steady and go far, and live up to their youth.

Dear students, 2021 is the first year of the 14th five-year plan, which coincides with the centennial of the founding of the party.
