On May 17, 2021, the inauguration and the first session of the Vocational Education Work Committee of the China Institute of Communications (hereafter as the Committee) took place in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Prof. Wen Tao, also Secretary of the Party Committee and President of DNUI, was elected as the chairman of the Committee and appointed the leader of the Party Workgroup of the Committee. Prof. Dong Benqing from DNUI was elected as the member and secretary of the Committee. Zhang Yanchuan, Vice President and Secretary-general of the China Institute of Communications, addressed the meeting.
Founded in 1978, the China Institute of Communications is a first-class national society registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and has the status of corporate capacity. It is the main channel of academic exchanges in China’s communications industry, the leading force of science popularization, and the base of communications technology professionals in the country. Additionally, it is also the chief representative of international non-governmental scientific and technological exchanges. The founding of the Committee aims to boost the development of information and communication vocational education in China, and to build a platform for expert consultation, intercollege exchange and collaboration, school-enterprise cooperation and improvement in the teaching and scientific research capabilities of teachers. It supports and guarantees the in-depth integration of scientific research and vocational education in the information and communication field.
he establishment of the Committee was followed by its first plenary session, which was presided by Prof. Dong Benqing. As the elected chairman of the Committee and the leader of its Party Workgroup, Prof. Wen Tao addressed on the development goals, positioning, responsibilities and future work focus of the Committee, highlighting the necessity of frequent academic exchanges at multi levels and in various forms, the formulation and implementation of the "Teacher’s Competence Enhancing Scheme" and "Teaching Ability Improvement Action" in the information and communication industry, and the selection and display in favor of scientific and technological innovation. All these shall be in accordance with the service-innovation-driven development strategy. The vice-chairmen of the Committee made special work reports respectively based on the key points of the annual work, achieving good results at the conference.
