DNUI Won the National First Prize in the Final of the 7th "Datang Trophy" Mobile Communication 5G Technology Competition for College Students

From October 24th to 25th, the final of the 7th "Datang Trophy" Mobile Communication 5G Technology Competition for College Students was held at North China University of Technology. After fierce competition, a DNUI team stood out from over 300 colleges and universities and won the national first prize for undergraduates. The team, composed by two Telecommunication Engineering majors Yuan Mengyi and Zhao Xin from Class 18004, was instructed by Wang Meng, a teacher from the Department of Telecommunication Engineering of the School of Intelligence and Electronic Engineering.

The "Datang Trophy" Mobile Communication 5G Technology Competition for College Students is co-hosted by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Association of Communication Enterprises. It is a discipline competition for college students with its dominant position in the field of communications. This years competition consists of contests at provincial and national level, with more than 8,000 students participating, and over 900 entering the final. The scale is the largest ever, thus the competition is extremely fierce.

This competition shows the specialty cultivation results of the Department of Telecommunication Engineering of the School of Intelligence and Electronic Engineering. After nearly 3 months’ preparation, the contestants have achieved good results with solid foundation under the guidance of the teachers. In the competition, the contestants passed the objective test and the simulation practice test at provincial level. A total of 30 students won the first, second, and third provincial prizes. Among them, the team which had won the provincial first prize advanced to the national competition and won the national first prize. In the national final, DNUI students passed three tests of theory competition, virtual simulation practice competition, and system equipment engineering practice competition, achieving excellent results in the online test. They further completed the simulation test of designated 5G technical principles and system operation and maintenance on the engineering practice simulation platform. They managed to solve engineering problems such as the actual network operation and maintenance, troubleshooting and community registration through real 5G system equipment. Through a series of tests, the solid theoretical foundation and outstanding practice capability of DNUI Telecommunication Engineering majors were unveiled in all aspects.
