International Online IT School

The International Online IT School program is organized by the Institute of Information Technology and Automatic Systems of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University of Russia and is open to students from partner institutions with the aim of expanding their knowledge, improving their abilities in IT project development and understanding cutting-edge technologies. The program consists of a series of lectures, workshops and presentations, in which the participating students are required to participate in creative discussions, project design and presentations, in addition to taking thematic courses. The program is conducted in English throughout and is implemented through the ZOOM platform.

Eight outstanding student representatives from the School of Computer and Software, the School of Intelligent and Electronic Engineering, and the School of Information and Business Management of our university participated in the program. During the week-long series of lectures and seminars, experts and scholars from Russia and other countries introduced technologies such as big data, block chain and artificial intelligence, which are currently used in IT projects, as well as hot topics related to IT such as e-commerce development, robot navigation, and the application of IT in health and comfortable living. The students participating in the program also took professional foundation courses such as English academic writing and project management.

During the student project exchange presentation, our students actively participated and expressed their opinions, presenting the results that their teams had come up with through this week's study and discussion, and successfully completed this online project.

The University established cooperation with the Northern (Arctic) Federal University of Russia in 2019. The university was established in 2010 by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the basis of Arkhangelsk State Technical University, which is a public institution of higher education in the Russian Federation. The university has become the center of education and research in the North of Russia, and with the support of the government, it has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the society with its strong faculty.

Reflections of some students who participated in the project.

Name: Yang Xinyu School of Information and Business Management - E-Commerce Department – E-Commerce Class 17001

I was fortunate enough to get a place to attend this unparalleled conference with many international friends. This training gave me a deeper understanding of IT, communicated with people at a higher level as well, and improved my learning ability and awareness. This week's course was still quite a big task, whether it was the length of the course or the language issue, which I found to be quite a challenge. The content of this training can be said to be multi-disciplinary. Teachers from various countries gave professional lectures on block chain, big data, e-commerce development, and professional writing, which made me jump out from my inherent thinking into horizontal and vertical association as well as deep thinking. This training also made me realize my lack of knowledge reserve, not only in listening and oral expression, but also in the understanding of professional technology, and the innovation ability also needs to be improved, but I believe that as long as I am willing to think and learn, I will keep improving all abilities.

Name: Li Yan School of Computer and Software - IOT Engineering - IOT Class 18003

I have gained a lot from this week of short-term online IT school. First of all, I am very honored to participate in this project, and I have broadened my horizons by communicating and learning with international teachers and students. Teachers from different countries and regions introduced their profiles in the IT field from various aspects, which gave me a deeper understanding of the professional knowledge. Secondly, this training is a good opportunity to practice and improve English speaking and listening. During this training, I also realized my shortcomings, such as I need to improve my creativity, and I can't think out of the existing framework, so I hope this exchange can help me in my future study life.

As a senior student, I have gained a lot from participating in this IT-School project. The content and practical experience learned in the past three years were applied in this project, and the discussions and exchanges with teachers from different countries were also a comprehensive test and examination. Although the five-day program did not allow for an in-depth study of a particular topic, it was a rare opportunity to meet people with different educational backgrounds and ideas. I hope you can participate in more programs like this.
