On the special day of June 16, we gathered in the Internet to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dalian Neusoft University of Information. Here, on behalf of the school, I would like to express my respect and best wishes to all teachers and students, alumni at home and abroad, and people from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported the development of the school!
The past 20 years were extraordinary. Looking back on the glorious course of the school in the past 20 years, we are excited to have a lot to say.
Twenty years ago, Neusoft Group, as the largest IT solution and service provider in China, realized in its own development that talent training in colleges and universities was seriously divorced from the demand of IT industry, which gave birth to Neusoft's dream of running a school. Twenty years ago, based on our understanding of education, starting from the high starting point of building China's first "Laptop University", we started a dream driven journey to cultivate talents for the development of China's IT industry. With the momentum of opening up new territory, we have realized the great-leap-forward development of our school, and become the private university with the largest number of IT majors and the largest scale of students in our country.
In the past 20 years, adhering to the school running concept of "Education Creates Students’ Value", we have defined the school running orientation of application-oriented university at the beginning of the establishment of the University. We have walked out of a sparsely populated "new education" road, integrating the development of the university into the rapid development of social economy and IT industry, perceiving application, highlighting characteristics, innovating to develop, have become the leading role of private IT university in China. In recent years, our annual enrollment score both of arts and science ranks first among all private colleges and universities in Liaoning Province. Up to now, we have delivered more than 50,000 IT graduates to the society, creating value for industrial upgrading, economic development, and social progress. The figure and excellent performance of the majority of alumni in all fronts have become the most beautiful business card of the alma mater.
Over the past 20 years, we have been committed to the overall improvement of students' knowledge, ability and quality. From the five-element knowledge structure to TOPCARES methodology, we have constructed a competency oriented, application oriented and dynamic updating curriculum system, which has made the university a pioneer in many fields. We are the first private university in China, and won the first and second prizes of national teaching achievement award in 2005 and 2009 respectively; at the end of 2019, in the first batch of national "double ten thousand plan" selection, two majors, namely, Computer Science and technology, Software Engineering and Digital Media Technology were identified as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites by the Ministry of Education, and the number of approved majors ranked the first in the national private colleges and universities, but also the only university of which these three majors were selected of all the private colleges and universities in China. In addition, DNUI ranks the first in China in terms of "teacher competition status data of private colleges" and "teacher teaching development index" released by the China Association of Higher Education, and ranks among the top five private colleges and universities in the ranking list of third-party institutions such as Wu Shulian and Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities.
In the past 20 years, we have given full play to the inherent industrial gene of Neusoft education, constructed an industry-education integration and application-oriented school running system, formed an operation mechanism of school enterprise cooperation and win-win cooperation, and built the first private university Science and Technology Park in the province. We have carried out in-depth cooperation with more than 200 well-known enterprises to enable enterprises to deeply participate in all aspects of talent training, enhance the practical ability of teachers and students, and realize that what students learn is what they use. Our graduates have strong employment competitiveness and won wide praise from employers. The employment rate and average salary of the school are always in the forefront of private colleges and universities in the province.
Over the past 20 years, we have integrated the innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training, focusing on cultivating students' innovative thinking, entrepreneurial awareness, innovation and entrepreneurship spirit and ability, which has become the pioneer of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China. We create SOVO according to the real environment of the enterprise, which is unique and famous all over the country. At present, it has incubated more than 4500 start-up projects, more than 400 virtual companies, and created more than 110 physical enterprises. We have been selected as one of the first batch of 50 universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, and the first batch of 99 demonstration universities to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. Innovation and entrepreneurship education not only benefits the students of our university, but also receives many batches of foreign students to carry out innovation and entrepreneurship practice in SOVO.
Over the past 20 years, the missions of IT universities have prompted us to use new theories, new technologies, new applications, new platforms and new tools to update and reconstruct the teaching content and models. From the original F2F + e-learning to today's Blended Education, through the effective combination of online learning platform and offline teaching resources, it has made us the explorer and pioneer of implementing blended education mode in China. At the same time, in the self-application and continuous upgrading iteration, we have enabled more than 400 domestic brother colleges and universities with 20-year school running accumulation and achievements, so as to further highlight the reform and value of Neusoft education.
Over the past 20 years, we have actively participated in, integrated and shared in the tide of globalization. We have established close cooperative relations with more than 100 foreign universities, such as the University of Queensland in Australia, San Jose State University in the United States, Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, Waseda University in Japan, and Moscow Transportation University in Russia. We have carried out more than 150 international cooperation projects, and accumulated more than 2300 international students and 1280 overseas students. We have normalized international exchange and interaction, bringing the world to our eyes, and making Neusoft education go to the world.
After twenty years of trials and hardships, 20 years is a milestone in the reform and development of the school, but also a new starting point to carry on the past and open the future. We are grateful for the development of the times, the care of leaders at all levels, the support of all sectors of society, and the struggle of teachers, students and alumni.
The next 20 years will be 20 years of new technology driven development, 20 years of rapid development of digital economy, 20 years of development of big health industry, and 20 years of more enterprising education of Neusoft. When inspecting our school, Premier Li Keqiang encouraged the teachers and students of Neusoft: "we should face the future, represent the future and master the future." We will adhere to the original intention of running a school, focus on IT + big health digital medical field, further innovate the talent training mode, deepen the integration of production and education, practice TOPCARES methodology, strengthen the connotation construction and improve the quality of education and teaching; give full play to the supporting role of University Science and Technology Park in teaching and research, students' practice and entrepreneurship, accelerate the construction of new campus, expand and improve the conditions of running a school. Dalian Neusoft University of Information has become an application-oriented model university, shouldering the responsibility and mission of education enabling economic and social development. In the new era of the mighty tide, with dream as shore, struggle as oar, set sail again!
