From October 26 to 28, 2018, the "2018 National College Russian Contest" sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education and organized by Shanghai International Studies University was held at Shanghai International Studies University. Fan Yaxin, a 2016 student from Russian Department of Foreign Languages College in DNUI, won the first prize of the talent show group in the competition.

A total of 349 competitors from 147 universities in China participated in the contest. They were divided into lower grade group, higher grade group, postgraduate group, talent show group and speech group. Since the beginning date of preparation, the Russian Department attached great importance to the competition and actively prepared for it. Two students were selected to participate in the contest, and two teachers, Chen Siqi and Zhan Xingyuan, were responsible for guiding the students. Through this contest, the teaching level of Russian majors in DNUI has been fully demonstrated. At the same time, communication with other universities has been strengthened, valuable experience has been learned, and new ideas and directions have been provided for the future teaching work.
