The Students from Film Photography and Production Department of DNUI Won the Second Prize of the 7th International College Students Microfilm Festival

On October 21, 2018, the 7th International College Student Microfilm Festival was held in Beijing. The work “The World (April Fools Night)” from the team led by Sui Shaoning, a student of the Film Photography and Production Department of the School of Digital Arts and Design, won the second prize of the plot category. This award is the best result of our current students participating in the international events.

"The World (April Fools Night)" is self-edited and self-directed by our team. The work tells about a drunken villager He Laowu in a remote village in China on his way home and found another villager, Old Cao, lying in a pool of blood under the bridge. This series of events were triggered by the murder case, and the story centered around Cao He, Wang Dandan and Zhang Desheng, and it intertwined the fate of the three people through different perspectives.

So many famous people were gathering on the grand ceremony. Former member of the Party Group of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, Director of China Radio International, Chairman of the International Student Microfilm Festival Jury, Zhang Zhenhua, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Director of the Propaganda Management Department, Jin Delong, Chairman of Chinese Ballad Singers Association, Jiang Kun, founder of French Arts and Image Festival, Simon Topel, as well as the leaders form Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, the China University Film and Television Society, the Communication University of China, the Beijing Film Academy, the Central Academy of Drama and domestic and foreign industry experts and scholars attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Gang Qiang, the famous host of CCTV. Since the beginning of March, the festival has collected nearly 6,000 works from more than 280 universities at home and abroad. These works also include foreign university students from 11 countries and 21 universities in Europe, America, South Korea and Tanzania. After the preliminary review, initial evaluation and final evaluation by the judges of the senior film festivals at home and abroad, a total of 111 microfilm excellent works was identified.

The event was sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Film and Television, the Beijing Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Institute of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Central New Film Group, the China Education Television, the Yinchuan Municipal People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and the China Cultural Information Association, hosted by Culture Media Co., Ltd. and the Science and Technology College of Capital Normal University, undertaken by the College of Science and Technology of Capital Normal University, and co-sponsored by Beijing Youth Network Culture Development Center, Communication University of China, Beijing Film Academy, Capital Normal University and Film Channel. The festival is associated with internationally renowned film festivals such as the French Youth Short Film Festival and the British Vientiane Film Festival, providing a platform for Chinese college students to enter the world.
