On the morning ofJuly 3rd , the Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony forthe Graduates of 2018 in Dalian Neusoft University of Information was held inthe gymnasium.

At 1:00 a.m. on July 3rd ,Feng Haixiao, a graduate of Dalian Neusoft University of Information in 2018,who works in Beijing Byte Beat Technology Co., Ltd. at present, walked out ofthe terminal building of Dalian airport. After completing a whole day’s work,he took the possibly “earliest” flight to attend one of the most importantceremonies for him which was to happen in seven hours - the graduation ceremonyof the 2018 students of Dalian Neusoft University of Information.

On July 2nd , Zhang Tao, agraduate of 2018, who currently is an employee in Xikang, arrived in Dalianfrom Baishan City, Jilin Province, together with his parents and hisgrandmother who is in her 80s, to attend his graduation ceremony. They werelooking forward to the graduation ceremony with the graduates’ deep attachmentto their old school and the great expectations of many parents.

At 7:30 a.m. on July 3rd ,along the East Gate of Dalian Neusoft University of Information, there erectedthe arch which reads “Wish the Graduates of the Year 2018 a Smooth Journey anda Bright Future”. On one side of the road, we could see the photo wall of thesmiling faces of the 2018 graduates. The slogan “Forever Eighteen Years Old!”would be lit up at night, eye-catching as well as romantic.

The road sides were lined with schoolsocieties to bid farewell, and the students crowded through the hallway to theentrance of the school gymnasium, where the 2018 graduates were waiting for thegraduation ceremony. As soon as they entered the door, they could see a verystriking background screen which writes: “Neusoft Celestial Regiment Presents inthe Center.” Many students on the graduation ceremony signed their names on itand took photos together. Behind it, the theme board demonstrating “I loveDalian, I love DNUI, never leaving!” also became the place for many graduatesto express their passion for Dalian and for the great Neusoft.

The graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of2018 started at 8:18. Professor Wen Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee andPresident of the University, Professor Guo Quan, Vice-President of theUniversity, Professor Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee,Financial Director Chao Yujun, and all the members of the Bachelor’s DegreeAssessment Committee of the University attended the graduation ceremony towitness this special occasion together with the 2018 graduates andrepresentatives of parents.

At the ceremony, Guo Quan, VicePresident, Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chao Yujun,Finance Director respectively announced “List of Graduates of 2018 andDecisions on Degree Awarding, Decisions on Subsidiary Bachelor’s DegreeAwarding” and the “Notification for the Commendation of Excellent Graduates of2018 of the Provincial, the Municipal and the school Level”. Outstandinggraduates were awarded the on the spot.

Liu Jinwei, a graduate of visualcommunication design from School of Digital Arts and Design, spoke on behalf ofthe graduates. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to his old school andshared his experience in college, encouraging the junior fellow students “notto give up what we fancy now, leaving no regrets for the youth.”

Liu Bin, who is the father of Liu Jiren, an English majorgraduate from the School of Foreign Languages, had departed from Sichuan thenight before to participate in the graduation ceremony and speak in the honorof all the graduates’ parents. He voiced gratitude to the school and sentgraduation blessings for all the graduates by saying: “I hope you will bethankful, take responsibility, work hard, and enjoy life while achieving yourdreams through tireless struggle on the future path of life.”

Chen Meina from the School of Informationand Business Management spoke as a teacher’s representative. She said: “Justbecause your academic career may be suspended for the time being, it doesn’tmean you can put an end to the road to knowledge. The ideal is not realizedthrough imagination but through persistent efforts, tireless progress andsocial practice of the temper.” “You can learn from others as the bestexamples, but the person you have to strive to transcend is nobody but youyourself. Your success must be fulfilled through your own efforts.”

Wen Tao, President and Secretary of the Party Committeeof DNUI, addressed at the commencement. President Wen Tao lectured the 2018graduates for the last time with the theme of “growth”. In his speech,President Wen Tao mentioned, “I will deeply miss the seasons and years in theschool with your company.” “In the past four years, you have picturized whatyouth should be like with your own performances. Your best years of youthimpress your alma mater in the unique way. It is just every bit of your growthand progress that has enabled the development and growth of your alma mater.”

President Wen Tao said to the graduates of 2018 who wereabout to leave their alma mater,  “Everystep of growth in life stems from the courage to pursue your dreams”, “from theperseverance of diligence”, “from the wisdom of knowing and doing”, “from thegenerosity with gratitude and tolerance”. “In school, you are on the center ofthe landscape as the highest concern for the school. After leaving school, youwill become the salt of the earth who must take the responsibility forsociety.” “No matter how far you go, alma mater is always here for you toaccompany you in your growth.” President Wen Tao’s speech completed with warmapplauses for his earnest wishes.

At the end of the ceremony, the graduates of 2018 madetheir vows of graduation vigorously: “To be diligent, knowledgeable andcompatible, to cultivate our morality till perfection; to learn to apply,innovate and create breakthroughs; to inherit the spirit of DNUI, and cherishthe memory of alma mater; to unite the great strength of youth to rejuvenateChina.” This is the most powerful voice of students in Neusoft, which willreverberate in the hearts of every one of DNUI forever. Then, the music of theschool song “Dream on the Road” was played. In the familiar melody of theschool song, many people sang along with their eyes filled with tears.

At the graduation ceremony, Wen Tao, the Secretary of theParty Committee and the President of the school, issued a diploma to each ofthe graduates who came onto the stage. For the three hours in the process,President Wen Tao kept smiling and waited for each of the graduates toapproach, asked about their situations with concern, and took pictures witheveryone. In everyone’s mind, “Brother Tao” has become a scene on the stage,posting the image just as the alma mater embracing the students forever, whichmoved every student on the scene as well as the parents. Some graduates gavePresident Wen a big hug with the irresistible excitement. Others took selfieswith the president on the stage in applause and cheers. The school’s NeusoftNews Agency captured the precious moments for every graduate on the spot andwill distribute them to the graduates as a memorial.

Once entering Neusoft, the student remains a part ofNeusoft for a life-long time. Dalian Neusoft University of Information saw offthe 2018 graduates in a most special way. Very soon, in this September a groupof fresh faces will come here. Through the endless life and growth, DNUI isalways full of warmth, hope and vitality…
