At 4:30 p.m. of May 13th, 300 volunteer students from differentdepartments gathered at the east gate of DNUI at dawn. They took the bus bound for31st Dalian international marathon event to serve this competition asvolunteers.

In April, the Youth League Committee of DNUI called on differentdepartments to select Dalian marathon volunteers. 300 determined and motivatedstudent volunteers with service experience and basic rescue knowledge wereselected from different departments and student unions.
On the occasion, student volunteers of DNUI watched over specific areas,guided participants and assisted the police with security work. In order tomake students better serve the event, the leading quality teacher receivedprofessional training and organized student volunteers from differentdepartments to conduct one-week training including standing manners, handlingthe emergency, instant rescue knowledge and so on. On the last day of training,they took part in the final test and the one passed the test would become avolunteer.
Zhang Wanting, a student volunteer from Business Management Departmentsaid, “During the training, Han Xiaoping, Secretary of Youth League Committeeof Business Department, Director of Student Union and different section chiefsgave us a personal demonstration and I am happy to be part of it.”
Athletes thumbed up when they pass by and said “come on Neusoft”. I am soinspired. Now I have a deeper understanding of marathon spirit. Our life islike a marathon. We need to have courage to face the difficulties on thejourney of study.” said a student volunteer from Electronic EngineeringDepartment.
Another student volunteer form Electronic Engineering Department said, “Whatmoved me most was that I saw many seniors participating in this event. They candevote themselves to one single thing, and what about the young one like us?”
“This running field is filled with emotion, perseverance and endeavor. Ifeel the profound meaning of sporting spirit that is the courage to carry on.”said Zhang Yuning, a student volunteer from Business Management Department.
At the end of the event, teachers and students participating in this eventwere awarded with volunteering certificate. “I am honored to participate inthis international event, and I hope all students can gain strength from it andwe could also make some contribution to Dalian’s development.” said Li Nan, Secretaryof Youth League Committee of DNUI.
