The “Laboratory Open Week” Event was Held by DNUI Research & Training Center

From April 2nd to 14th, the “Laboratory Open Week” activities launched byDNUI Research & Training Center were carried out in laboratories of A2, A3,A11 and A12, including smart car competition, physical experiments and cutting-edgeknowledge of the field, smart home experience, 3D printing experience, virtualreality experience, Xikang medical examination etc. With considerable expertiseand great interest, these theme activities have attracted many faculty membersand students.

In the full-scene Campus Network Lab, many students gathered to listen attentivelyto the teacher explaining the structure of the campus network. They themselvestried the network cable making, through which they had learned to use various tools.As the saying goes, “Practice goes deeper than theoretic knowledge.” For manyan experiment, only through hands-on operation in the laboratory can we unveilthe mysteries.

Lively little dinosaurs, cool sports cars, richly ornamented ancientbuildings, cute cartoon characters etc. are products of the 3D Printing Maker Lab.Students who came to experience the technology have opened their minds andprinted their favorite models, allowing more people to know about the 3Dprinting technology.

In the Interactive Media Technology Lab, students jumped and dancedvigorously. It was not surprising since the human-computer interaction device,combined with scenes of technology, gave the students who experienced the VRgame a feeling of actually being on the scene. In the event, Li Xiang, ateacher of digital media from Department of Digital Arts, explained down to thelast detail the application of human-computer interaction to the students. What’smore, he also interacted with the students through games. "In this era ofrapid development, interactive media-related equipment and technology willbecome increasingly common. I hope the students will gain a betterunderstanding of this in order to lay the foundation for the future." saidLi Xiang.

In the Mobile Application Development Lab displayed outstanding works ofstudents from Department of Computer Science and Technology and Department of DigitalArts. Through the explanation of these works, the students got well acquaintedwith the common interface of shopping and social APPs, and the flow of transitionpages, and thus had a better understanding of the job of designers andprogrammers.

Bright oil paintings, noble and elegant landscape paintings, modern simple-styleposters, and exquisite traditional paper-cutting, all of these are the productsof the Decorative Painting Customization Lab, making visitors feast their eyeson them.

The "Laboratory Open Week" eventconsisted of a series of theme activities, with a total of 12 laboratories involved.This event has enhanced our understanding of the laboratory functions andenvironment, enabling more students to realize the fun of experiments.Meanwhile, it has laid a solid foundation for better conducting scientific researches,graduation designs, discipline competitions and College Students Innovation andEntrepreneurship Program as well as other extracurricular scientific andtechnological activities.
