On January 20, 2018, the5th National Education Reform Innovation Case Presentation and InnovationAchievement Exhibition was held by ChinaEducation News and China EducationNews Network in Beijing. The winners of the 5th National EducationInnovation Cases were announced at the conference. Wen Tao, President of DalianNeusoft Institute of Information, was awarded the National OutstandingPresident Award for Educational Reform and Innovation.

The national education reform andinnovation campaign for selecting typical cases has been held once every twoyears since 2009 and has become a large platform for promoting the reform ofeducation in local schools and demonstrating the achievements of localeducation reform and innovation. The theme of this event is “Education has laidthe groundwork for innovation in China to lead the future”. It aims to reviewand summarize the practices and experiences of the implementation of centraldecision-making and implementation of the education front, deepen thecomprehensive reform in the education field, and vigorously carry forward thestyle of the times that is determined to reform and be innovative, and striveto give a good education for the people. The activity was launched in September2017. After the deliberation of the organizing committee, public announcementof the society, and appraisal by the jury, 140 cases were finally selected outof more than 1, 600 application cases. Among them, there are 20 nationalspecial awards for education reform and innovation, 30 national awards forexcellent education reform and innovation, 20 national awards for outstandingpresidents of universities, 30 national awards for excellent presidents ofuniversities, 15 national awards for outstanding teachers in education reformand innovation, and 25 national awards for excellent teachers in educationreform and innovation.

As the President of DalianNeusoft Institute of Information, Wen Tao organized a series of characteristicconstruction of innovations to establish its own educational system, andimplemented innovation and entrepreneurship education for all studentsthroughout the whole school to improve the quality of personnel training andpromote the overall development of students based on the school’s philosophy of“Creating Student Value through Education” and the vision of building a“characteristic, high-level, entrepreneurial applied technology university”.The TOPCARES-CDIO innovation and entrepreneurial ability index system has beenbuilt up on campus. A universal, professional and operational “trinity”curriculum system as well as its online resource platform has also been establishedto set up a gradual mode of fostering—“Innovation and EntrepreneurshipPervasive Education + Innovation and Venture Projects + Virtual CorporateOperations + Entrepreneurship + Incubation of results + support of resourcepolicies”, a spiraling SOVO practice platform, and a full range of innovationand entrepreneurship cultural activity systems.

Among the winners of this year’s National Education Reform Innovation CaseSelection Award were 19 presidents from different universities, including PengLong, President of the Beijing Foreign Languages University, and Zhai Xiaoning,President of Renmin University of China.
