At noon on September 26, the colorful cuisine party for "Cross-Cultural Dialogue on Food Festival" was held in the hall of A7 building. This is one of a series of activities of "TALK TO THE WORLD" held by the English Department for all teachers and students. It is also the first activity of this semester after the last semester series.
The party has attracted teachers and students from all departments of our school, teachers and students sitting around the table, exchanging ideas on the topic of "colorful dishes" in English.
Daniel Vorster, a foreign teacher from South Africa of English Department and other English teachers from the English Department prepared a variety of ingredients, cutlery and decorative ornaments for free use by teachers and classmates present. At the party, Daniel led the students to experience the specialties under different cultures, and to learn for fun. He not only taught students with authentic language knowledge but also stimulated all the attendants’ passion for English learning.
At the party, all the attendants were divided into groups for discussion. While listening to Daniel's explanation, they could ask him questions. Everyone had carefully selected their ingredients for food. Some of them shared their gourmet ideas about food. They also took detailed notes about the key points in English. After completing their dishes, they showed their work to others and gave evaluation to others’ work. Everyone present communicated with each other in English. They experienced different ingredients both at home and abroad. Furthermore, they learned more about the English language used in dietary exchanges which enhanced their awareness of English communication.
In the relaxed and happy atmosphere, the colorful cuisine party for "Cross-Cultural Dialogue on Food Festival" came to the end successfully to the teacher’ and the student’ heart’s content. There are still three more activities for English communication in this semester: they are "Halloween Party", "A Thankful Heart", "Merry Christmas".
