“Wow, here comes the cool car again!” When he drove the intelligent electric car designed and assembled by him on campus, Zhou Jianbin heard the words from several girls. As a senior student majoring in electronic information engineering in the Electronics Engineering Department of DNUI, he made fullest use of what he had learned in the four years of college life. He said: “I did not know my career development in the future before finishing the graduation design. However, when I finished it, I decided to enter into the electric vehicle industry to further develop my career.”
The racing car is really a scene stealer, isn’t it? What’s more, how about the driver? The driver is also a cool guy.
Zhou Jiabin is interviewed by reporters both in and out of the school in the SOVO.
In December 2016, Zhou Jiabin began his graduation project. He decided to make a car of his own, the idea of which came from a smart car competition when he was a sophomore. “I summarized the ideas getting from the competition and then applied them to the design of my own car.”
He also assessed his financial status before fixing the model of the car. He put much importance to the originality in his design: automatic driving was achieved by selecting chips by himself, by adopting the driving principles of motors, and by the application of intelligent algorithm. Although there is still some room for further improvement, the essence of electric vehicles has been reflected in the car.
It will be more awesome if the school badge of DNUI is put on the positive side of Model 87V5.
The car is electric and energy saving, which can be figured out from its structure and the main components.
One day in April of this year, Zhou Jiabin drove his “handcraft” car on campus, which drew wide attention. “A lot of students especially some girls were taking photos with their cell phones and cheered, which made me shy,” he said.
“According to the data got from the configuration, the speed of the car can reach 20 kilometers per hour. It can run for 1 hour if it is charged for 2 hours. Just make a bold assumption, if the appearance can be further upgraded, the car could be widely used on campus.” Zhou Jiabin expressed confidently.
Zhou Jiabin spent a total of 7000 RMB on assembling this smart electric car. He said, “The cost will be greatly reduced if it is put into mass production.”
Handcraft car! How awesome Mr. Zhou is!
Even the reporter wanted to experience the feeling of driving.
The overall structure of the car is very clear from the side view.

Because it is automatic, it drives easily.
Gao Fei, instructor of Zhou Jiabin and teacher from electronic information engineering education and management team of the Department of Electronic Engineering Department, expressed that there were still some room for Zhou Jiabin to improve his work. However, it has been a great challenge for an undergraduate to achieve such an innovation. Such kind of work has evaluated students’ capabilities in designing the product’s appearance, app, circuit boards, mechanics, cabling, and intelligence. She also said, “Because of the financial constraints, it is more valuable for him to complete such a perfect work.” Zhou Jiabin’s career objective is to become a practitioner in the field of smart electric car production. He has become more confident after the project. Meanwhile, his professional quality has also been greatly improved.
