On the afternoon of June 14, Sun Zhonghai, a 2016 graduate from DNUI and a co-founder of Dalian Zhanrui Technology Limited Company, was staging a road show of his project before an audience of over 300 in A5 Lecture Hall (Room 602) of the University. “We mainly make smart cooking utensil sets. Before we started the project, we found that the western seasonings could be measured, which is a big difference from the Chinese way. If we have a look at a Chinese recipe, we can easily spot such terms as ‘a little salt’ or ‘proper amount of oil’. Actually, those inexact terms add difficulty to cooking Chinese food. Therefore, we came up with the idea of quantifying the Chinese seasonings in order to let beginners know how. Thus, young people can turn to our smart utensils for help when cooking. Those suffering from diabetes can also learn how to control their diets. Our products are really a great advisor because they automatically proportion oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and other seasonings. Smart utensils, easy cooking.”

Present at the event were Ren Zhigang, Deputy Director of Dalian Service Centre of Entrepreneurship, Li Wenchao, Deputy Chief of Dalian High-tech Zone Investment Promotion Bureau, Sun Tong, Assistant Director of Dalian High-tech Zone Service Centre of Entrepreneurship, Xu Yi, President of Dalian Entrepreneurship Federation and Liu Junjie, secretary general of Dalian Entrepreneurship Federation. Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of DNUI Party Committee Branch, Deng Shan, Dean of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of DNUI and teachers from other related departments and some outstanding students also attended the forum.

He Xiaoyu, a co-founder of ViKA Charitable Foundation, made a keynote speech, pointing out that against the backdrop of mass innovation and entrepreneurship, though, the survival rate of university start-ups remains low. “Therefore, it is ViKA’s wish that it could help university students with ambition in this regard and make their dreams come true.”

Two outstanding start-up projects of DNUI were demonstrated on the spot. The would-be entrepreneurs expounded their original ideas, progress and scenarios for their businesses, displaying the excellent innovative and entrepreneurial qualities of DNUI students. After the road show, the leaders, guests and co-founders of ViKA awarded venture fund to students for ten outstanding projects.

At last, ViKA Charitable Foundation and Shanghai Oriental Wisdom Sincere Piety Cultural Development Foundation reached an agreement to channel the Million Entrepreneurship Plan of University students with one million yuan. The plan also helps organize entrepreneurial events domestically, select outstanding plans prepared by university students, and organize the awarded students to go overseas to exchange with outstanding entrepreneurial teams and mentors to gain guidance and support from their counterparts.
