The International CDIO Conference was held in Calgary, Canada from June 17 to June 23, 2017. More than 200 scholars from all over the world attended the conference. As one of the founders, Johan Malmquist, the professor of MIT, was invited to deliver a keynote report on the necessity of CDIO development. Dozens of parallel sessions were held during the days of the conference when the experts and scholars worldwide discussed in depth on the development of CDIO, project teaching, flipped classroom, course designing and relevant research and the like.

Three teachers from our university, Sun Xiaoling, Li Haoyuan and Shen Hua attended the conference, communicating and discussing with the teachers from other countries in many ways. In the Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting on the 23rd, June, Professor Sun Xiaoling represented our university to apply to host 2019 CDIO Conference in Asia-Pacific Region. After the delegates vote, by secret ballot, our university defeated India’s Veltech Dr.RR & Dr.SR University, successfully winning the right to host 2019 CDIO Conference in Asia-Pacific Region. It is reported that Veltech Dr. RR & Dr.SR University is the first university in India to join in the international CDIO organization, ranking the top 50 in Asian universities. Our university to host the conference fully demonstrates that the educational and teaching reform of TOPCARES-CDIO has been approved by other universities in Asia. We will take the CDIO Asia-Pacific conference as an opportunity to further promote TOPCARES-CDIO teaching reform and international communication and cooperation.
