Lately, Ministry of Education has announced the list of 2016’s National Universities with Distinction in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Dalian Neusoft University of Information was successfully selected as one of the “Top 50 National Universities of Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. This is an honor for all the universities and colleges in our country to compete for. Through the schools’ summarization, recommended application, experts’ preliminary selection, social survey and field investigation, the honor was granted to 19 universities attached to the central ministries like Beijing University and Tsinghua University, 25 provincial universities like Dalian Neusoft University of Information, Beijing University of Technology, and 6 vocational colleges like Baotou Light Industry Vocational Technical College.

Since the establishment in 2000, centered on the school-running orientation of building the university specialized in applied technology, Dalian Neusoft University of Information has combined the needs of industries and society for talents, based on the TOPCARES-CDIO talent-cultivating mode with concept and features of the CDIO engineering education, developed the educational mode of innovation and entrepreneurship with DNUI features through constant exploration and accumulation, working hard to train the students’ innovative thinking style, career consciousness, ability of innovation and entrepreneurship. The school has integrated education of innovation and entrepreneurship into the whole course of talent training, dedicated to the quality-oriented education with innovation and entrepreneurship designed for all the students, combined with professional education and laying a solid foundation for the student’ life-long development. As early as 2002, the school founded SOVO to set up the practice base of entrepreneurship and established the Academy of Innovation and Entrepreneurship on this basis to provide an all-round education of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as the guiding service of project practice for all the students. Through the universal courses of innovation and entrepreneurship, the school has conducted the talent-training plan based on projects, held various cultural activities of innovation and entrepreneurship, helping the seeds of students’ wonderful ideas to take root and sprout, activating their genes of “maker”, to supply a wide range of opportunities and stages for the students to grow into talents.  

From the top-level design to the frontier application, the fruit of the school’s innovation and entrepreneurship in more than 10 years has become increasingly observable. According to the MyCOS statistics, the rate of start-up for the 2013 and 2014 graduates is 4.9% after they left the campus, 2.7% higher than that (2.2%) of other non-211 universities in the country. The education of innovation and entrepreneurship in the school has won many awards, which leads to the success in obtaining the permission from the National Ministry of Science and Technology for the Maker Space, in achieving the fame of the model school of entrepreneurship education in Liaoning province, being among the first batch of demonstration bases for college students' venture incubation in Liaoning province, among the first batch of practice bases for college students' innovative undertaking education, and among the 2016’s breeding bases of entrepreneurial projects for college students in Liaoning province, etc.
