The 6th National College Students Contest of ComputerApplication Competence and Information Literacy had its final at MinzuUniversity of China from May 21th to 24th. A total of 16,000 students from 180delegates all over the country attended the contest. However, a mere 493candidates with 160 instructors from 110 universities edged their way into the final.The contest was composed of three events: Office Business ApplicationCompetence, Basis of Computer Engineering and Specialized English for Computer.18 students from DNUI participated in the contest. After rounds of intensecompetition, Liu Haoxuan from Department of Computer Science and Technology andZhu Jin from Department of Software Engineering won the first prize in theOffice Business Application Competence Contest; Cen Jin from Department ofSoftware Engineering and Jin Zhenghuai from School of Continuing Education wereawarded the first prize in Basis of Computer Engineering Contest. At the sametime, many others won the second and third prize (See Attachment). DNUIers’ capabilityand excellence revealed in the inspiring result was well received among expertsof the contest committee as well as other participating universities. DNUI wasbecoming increasingly influential through the participation in this nationalcontest. In addition, instructors such as Luo Wei, Wang Wensheng, ZhangDongqing and Li Tingting (School of Continuing Education) were also awarded theExcellent Instructor Prize.
Themed “Computer Application Competence andInformation Literacy”, this national contest aimed to improve college students’basic skills and comprehensive ability to apply information technology to solvereal problems. Meanwhile, the consciousness of innovation and scientificaccomplishment was expected to be established for cultivating talents equippedwith practical ability and originality.
