On April 19th, when the reporter came to the TeachingBuilding A7, a one-person-high poster came into view which read " The RescueOrder of A7: U-Create satisfies your thirst and hunger! Please scan thetwo-dimensional bar code of U-Create Workshop.” The image of a cat agent withRay-Ban glasses, the style in metal color, and the concise slogan attracted alot of students to scan the two-dimensional bar code and check it out withtheir cell phones.
The reporterfollowed an English major to experience the shopping process in U-Create Workshop. The student whipped out the phone and directly logged on the U-Create Workshopshopping platform, chose his favorite items, and made the purchase and payed thebill. Later, he came to the pickup-point at Room103 in Building A7, where the studentsin charge of stock management in U-Create Workshop had packed the purchaseditems according to the online order. After the student reported the tail numberof his order which was immediately verified afterwards, he picked up andcollected his goods in a snap. Such a "Mobile Internet + Campus Supermarket"model is really refreshing.
Sun Qi, the deputy director for the Department ofBusiness Management told the reporter that the U-Create Workshop wasco-established by 3 professional teams in the Department of Business Managementby working side by side to create a campus O2O business platform, where bymeans of mobile Internet + business, three factors, namely the novelty inelectronic new business, the flexibility in marketing, and the swiftness in professionallogistics, are combined as a whole to achieve the newer, more flexible and fasterservice than that of the traditional off-line shopping. Among them, the E-commercemajors are in charge of the maintenance of the system backstage and the onlineoperations with constant improvement in the purchasing process to provide customerswith more user-friendly experience; students majoring in logistics areresponsible for stock scheduling and logistics business; marketing students, with their creativity and imagination, taking the specific market conditionsinto consideration, are resourceful for competitive products and innovativemarketing ideas.
When it came to the origin of the name as U-CreateWorkshop, Sun Qi indicated three points: the sound of the letter U in Chinesemeans excellence, which signifies the abundance of excellent ideas and talents;U in English stands for You, which refers to everyone in Neusoft, extending awarm welcome for “your” participation; U, short for “united”, also representsthe alliance between giants, through which we collaborate to pursue innovationand entrepreneurship.
U-Create Workshop had just started but it hadsparked off the students’ passion for startup and practice. Xia Yuhua, amarketing major, the student in charge, told the reporter, “As one of the firstgroup members in U-Create Workshop, we have the opportunities to operate theplatform for e-commerce; carry out real-time supervision for stock and makeconnection with teachers or the suppliers dealing with various mattersconcerned; help to scheme the online or off-line marketing activities.Promoting U-Create Workshop throughout the campus benefits us a lot andcontributes considerably to our growth.”
The just-opened supermarket of U-Create Workshopdid encounter some urgent problems. For example, the occasional shortage ofproducts during the first few days since its opening; the stock-takingdifficulty caused by the lack of appropriate software for the purchase-sell-stockmanagement system, which led to the waste of time and energy and incurred somemistakes. However, this created a good chance for the students to learn andgeneralize. Xia Yuhua mentioned, “the teacher accompanied us to repeatedlyanalyze the purchasing behaviors of our target customers based on the backstagedata, by which we achieved the enhancement in replenishing the stock andoptimizing the new products. Our new system for stock-management will soon goonline. The students who work for the technological support at backstage keepmodifying the system with the hope to minimize steps for the sake of everyone’sconvenience. Entrepreneurial practice is no easy job but we will do our utmostto better it.”
Wang Yanping, a teacher from Department ofBusiness Management, suggested that U-Create Workshop is a real platformestablished by the Department of Business Management for the students to practicein starting a business, deepen the understanding of professional knowledge inoperation of the start-up supermarket on campus, and experience the pressure, the difficulty and sense of fulfillment from starting businesses during thewhole course as a bold and precious practice for the teachers and studentsinvolved.
