On November 11, the Sixth ‘IntelCup’ Mechanical Skill Contest for College Students was held in Liaoning VocationalCollege of Light Industry. Ten university teams, such as Dalian University ofTechnology, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian Neusoft University ofInformation, had a neck-and-neck competition around the real scenario questionsfrom enterprises. Teachers Luo Lei (from Electronic Engineering Department) wasthe team leader. The students of Li Xiangpeng, Zhang Yuqi, Wang Zhongchao, ZhangXiang of grade 2013 took part in the final on behalf of our university.

The contest was hosted byDalian Municipal Corporation, presented by Intel Semiconductor (Dalian) Co.,Ltd. and Liaoning Vocational College of Light Industry. The contest, for thefirst time, introduced the production simulation equipment which is fortraining Intel internal technicians - Automate200, and set up multiple faultsin the simulated production environment. Our teachers guided thestudents to find the root cause of the problems on the basis of models buildthe models and then put forward the solutions for the faults. The contest isonly for the students specializing in Electronics, Mechanics and Electricity,Mechanics and other related majors, aiming at testing students’ professionalbasic knowledge and manipulative  ability.The competition was launched in April this year. To prepare for it, theteachers, Luo Lei and Lin Baowei, attended Intel Technicians’ Training for manytimes and actively guided students how to do it and what to do in thecompetition. After the intense competition, our team won the Award ofExcellence. Luo Lei and Lin Baowei obtained the Title of Outstanding Teachers.
