On October 28th,achievements of the practical semester in 2014-2015 were exhibited in everydepartment. Compared with last year, it included not only the excellentprojects of this practical semester, but also the award-winning works inacademic competitions, projects cooperated with enterprises, innovative andentrepreneurial projects, graduation projects, and so on, which made thepresentations more substantial and systematic. Innovative and entrepreneurialeducation in our university has yielded brilliant achievements.

This year, everydepartment has yielded brilliant achievements in the practical semester. Departmentof Information Management and Department of Business Administration consist of7 majors. Their projects, micro-life in Neusoft, was a campus e-commerceplatform" based on mobile e-commerce micro-operation", which was abold attempt. Their students cultivated their innovative and entrepreneurialthinking and practical abilities in a real business environment.

The English Department andJapanese Department presented the projects in the combination of Chinese andforeign languages, which reflected strong application features. For instance,through the business reception and product release of the English Department,and the comprehensive project practice in tourism, exhibition industry and ITof the Japanese Department, they realized the improvement of the practicalskills for the students.

The project presentations ofDepartment of Computer Science and Technology, Department of SoftwareEngineering and Department of Electronic Engineering combined technology withfun and daily life, which were creative. "Colorful Fruit Delivery"which sold fresh fruits and fruit platters to universities, communities andcompanies online, with self-pick-up and delivery services, has been put intooperation; the project of "Clothing Specialist", which releasedcostume matching skills and updated news in the clothing market, has negotiatedand cooperated with several well-known brands in Dalian; the mobile teachingsoftware has gone online and has been adopted by some teachers in DalianShipping College. The projects of Department of Software Engineering, such as "HermesReal-time Public Transportation Inquiring System", "CorporateIncome Tax Declaration and Management System" and "IntelligentTransportation Navigation System" originated from the need of social life,which were of great practical value; the projects of Department of ElectronicInformation Engineering, such as "IntelligentBluetooth Vehicle with Wireless Video Projection ", "IntelligentE-family Electricity Monitoring System" and "Supermarket FastSelf-service Shopping System" were convenient and efficient, whichhighlighted their high application value.

The presentations of theDepartment of Digital Arts glutted our eyes through elaborately designed works,such as "Farm Garden", "the Mutant" and"Xinyue-Extraordinary Travelling Experience in 365 Days". Theteachers and students freehand sketched creative pictures laser-printed onoriginal T-shirts, which were refreshing. "Fancy Nature", an animalanimation, was a combination of 2D pictures and 3D presentation making use offreehand sketching and technology of augmented reality, which was vivid andlively.

It was the first time for theRussian Department and Department of Fundamental Courses toparticipate in the achievements presentation of the practical semester. Throughthe projects of commodity fair and business reception, the Russian Departmentpresented the students' higher ability of dealing with business andintercultural communication in receiving foreign guests. The project presentationmade by Department of Fundamental Courses reflected more focus on humanism andcultivation of comprehensive qualities of the students.

During the visit, Vice-presidentGuo Quan communicated in depth about every project of every department with theteachers and students. In conclusion, he emphasized the significance of"accumulation". He hoped that every department could summarize theadvantages and disadvantages of practical semesters both last year and thisyear, and continue to improve in the future teaching process based on thecurrent technology and experience, so that the continual improvement of practicalteaching effect and innovative and entrepreneurial ability of the studentscould be realized.

Combining its specialty and giving full play to thestudents' innovative and entrepreneurial thinking as well as their subjectiveinitiative, every department created a large number of project works ofapplication value through practice, which attracted the attention of thestudents. Media such as People's Daily, China Daily, China News Service, TaKung Pao, Liaoning Daily, Dalian TV, Dalian Evening News and Peninsula MorningNews also came to our university for a visit and experience.
