A Lawn Symphonic Concert staged on DNUI’s Campus

Early in the autumn evening, acool breeze blew gently. In the afternoon of September 8, a piece of movingsymphonic was heard on the Square of Students. Accompanied by the applause ofteachers and students from DNUI, the Sixth Dalian International Summer Festival"Sound of Yida," –a symphonic concert brought by the DalianInternational Orchestra kicked off on the campus of DNUI. Bao Hongkui,Vice-president of Yida Group, and Ren Hao, Deputy Party Secretary of DNUI,together with more 700 teachers and students came to the scene to appreciatethis symphonic feast.

The symphonic concert was incommand of Du Ming, Art Director of the Dalian International Orchestra,Vice-Chairman of Dalian City Musicians Association, and Guest Professor ofDalian University. One after another piece of classic music such as "Ruslanand Lyudmila" and "Slavonic Dances" has infected the audience.

Because of this year’scoincidence with the 70th anniversary of the international anti-fascist victory,the Orchestra also played the pieces such as "Glowing Red MorningstarLilies" "Burning Passion", "Going to the West","Ode to Yimeng", "My Motherland" and so on, whichreproduced the lives and emotions of people in the war years.

Meanwhile, "Love ofDalian", the theme music which shares the same title with a TV series, and“Love” in the third movement of "Yida Symphony" were also played inthe concert. Immersing in a sea of music, the audience interacted with therhythm of music by applause. 

Shining stars were studded on thesummer stage, while DNUI’s campus was blooming with colorful art. Covered bygreen lawn, with insectss buzzing sometimes, the Square was decorated withcolored light sticks as darkness fell. Many of the teachers and students fromDNUI looked upon the concert as “a music festival on the lawn”. He Ping, astudent of 2015 from the English Department said: “This is the first time forme to be so close to symphony, and I feel shocked. As a college student, weshould get more exposed to the classic arts and carry forward the human spiritin order to create a good cultural atmosphere. I also hope more such activitiescould be held in our school to enhance our artistic accomplishments.” Mr. Chen,a teacher from the Department of Software Engineering said, "This activitymakes sense, I hope more students could get involved. "

The concert was served byBranding and Strategic Development Department, Logistic Management Department,the Security Office, as well as the help from Neusoft Administrivia News, and more than 30 student volunteers, the school flagguards from the Communist Youth League. Before the event, a ticket-grabbingactivity was held on the WeChat Platform, and 50 out of all participators werechosen to be awarded hand-drawn maps of our school. A mosquito-repellent toiletwater and other intimate services were also offered to the participators, whichhad won high praise.

It is reported that the DalianInternational Summer Festival "Sound of Yida" was jointly held by thePublicity Department of the CPC Dalian Municipal Party Committee, Dalian CityBureau of Culture, Dalian Bureau of Cultural Broadcasting, and Yida Group. Onthe other hand, Dalian International Symphony Orchestra was founded in May of2009, which has had cooperation with so many famous artists, such as Lang Lang,Ning Feng, Gerald Ribio, Teng Shichu, etc.
