On November 23, at the meeting of reporting performance and effect of military training of Dalian universities and colleges in memory of the 70th anniversary of Red Army’s Long March, the representative team composed of students of Grade 2006 of Department of Computer Science and Technology of Dalian Neusoft Institute, won the third place and gave credit to our institute. This meeting was organized by Dalian Higher Education Working Committee, and co-sponsored by Dalian Maritime University. Leaders of the Education Department of Liaoning Province, and of the Party, government and military units of Dalian attended this meeting. On that day, in the stadium of Dalian Maritime University, the colored banners were flattering; with the word of the commander-in-chief, seventeen representative teams of Dalian universities and colleges passed by the rostrum in proper order, received leaders’ inspection and reported their outcome of military training. The representative team of our institute, with soldiers’ appearance, powerful posture, uniform alignment and high morale, won the praise of the leaders and ceaseless cheers from the audience. After the review by the professionals and judges, the representative team of our institute won the honor of merit prize (third place). The honor relies greatly on the efforts made by the institute and the department leaders. After receiving the task, Dr. Wen Tao, President and Secretary of CPC Committee of Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information brought up the aim of “Fifth is the basic, strive for the Third”. The Vice Secretary of CPC Committee of the institute Ren Hao held a special meeting to arrange the relative works that put the Undergraduate Affairs Office and the Department of Computer Science and Technology in charge of the detailed affairs. During the training, the institute leaders came to see the students many times, which greatly encouraged the students’ enthusiasm. Secretary Ren told the students to remember the Long March Spirit, and work hard to win prizes for our school. Undergraduate Affairs Office director Liu Jiagui and General Secretary of CPC Committee Zhou Xingtang of the Department of Computer Science and Technology also regularly went to the training site to see the students and drill masters, which ensured the high quality of the training. The achievement is also the result of the spiritual civilization construction and the talent cultivation jointly conducted by the military unit and local government. This activity has got great support from Troop 91550, the cooperation unit of our institute. Even when the task of military training was finished, three drill masters still stayed to coach the training. High standards and strict requirements have furnished students with indomitable spirit. Despite the military leaders’ heavy work, they mobilized and greeted the students several times at the training field, which further encouraged the morale of the team. The achievement is certainly the result of team members’ great effort and self-giving sacrifice. Everyone in the team has undergone intensive military training in the sweltering summer under hot temperature while other students were having classes and resting. Sweating, ill or even hurt, they still persisted in military training. This tenacious and struggling spirit has laid a solid foundation for the final achievement. Though military training has already come to an end, the spirit of teamwork, fearlessness of weariness and difficulties, and willingness to sacrifice—embodiment of Long March spirit—will always encourage both the students and teachers of our faculty to study and work hard.
