At 9:00 of Sep 9th, 2007 Freshmen Entrance Education and Military Training Mobilization Meeting was held in NII stadium. Vice-president Cao Yunfeng, Deputy Secretary of NII Ren Hao, training officers from Dalian Navy, and leaders concerned attended the meeting, which is presided over by Director of Students Affairs Office Liu Jiagui. The meeting was started in the grandeur national anthem. Vice-president Cao Yunfeng announced members of the Leading Group and arrangements for the entrance education and military training, which is under the supervision of Deputy Secretary of NII Ren Hao. Chief Navy officers and concerned department leaders are in the Leading Group for military training and freshmen entrance education. Students are organized into three battalions with fourteen regiments. Afterwards, Mr. Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of NII and Commander of the Military Training Regiment, delivered a mobilization speech to all the freshmen on the coming military training as well as the college entrance education. Mr. Ren first extended his warm welcome and congratulations to the new students on behalf of all the school leaders as well as the school faculty. He also conveyed gratitude to the drill officers for their support in six successive years. Military training, as Mr. Ren Hao indicated in his speech, was an important part of national defense education, and a necessity to get adapted to the new domestic and international situation, to popularize the importance of national defense, and to reinforce the national defense construction. Through the training, the students could not only learn the fundamental military theory and skills, but also raise their political awareness, strengthen their discipline concept, form proper study and living habits, which will lay a firm foundation for their future. College entrance education, on the other hand, was a guide to the school regulations, as well as an education program for the freshmen in the cultivation of patriotism and affection for the school, academic study, career orientation, school regulations, psychological health, security and self-protection awareness, and interpersonal relations, all of which would be found quite useful for the school life. Mr. Ren stressed that military training was a tough physical training as well as a psychological test through which the students could accumulate experience and learn precious lessons. Therefore, the students were expected to cherish this opportunity and take active participation in the training. It was also hoped that the supervisors of the students could cooperate well with the drill officers so that the military training could be combined with the entrance education effectively to achieve the preset goal of this education program. With regard to the military training, Mr. Ren imposed a few requirements on all the participants of the training. Firstly, the students were expected to respect the drill masters and follow the instructions, and exert full concentration on the training and the entrance education. Secondly, disciplines were to be strictly abided by during the training. There should be no tolerance for being late, early leaving, or absence without permission. Leaves were not to be approved unless for emergencies and other special circumstances. Thirdly, supervisors involved were expected of a keen sense of responsibility in their job of assisting the drill masters to fulfill the training program and the entrance education. Fourthly, all the departments of the institute ought to cooperate with each other and support the training by offering good services. Fifthly, it was hoped that the battalions, companies as well as departments involved should make effort on the publicity and encouragement to the students for their good performance during the training and entrance education in the atmosphere of “Competing, Learning, Pursuing, Helping and Surpassing”. Du Guangqin, Senior Colonel and Deputy political commissar of a military unit in Dalian, delivered a speech at the ceremony. Dalian NII, he said, had a great potential and bright prospect, with its strong teaching team, abundant teaching resources, efficient administration and first-class equipment. He anticipated that the new students of 2007 could enhance their discipline awareness, develop a strong personality and healthy mentality, which would play a positive role in their study and their future development. It was also expected that the drill officers could join hands with the students and teachers of NII to make new contributions to the construction of a harmonious society and to greet the Seventeenth National Congress of CPC.  The representatives of the drill officers and the students also gave speeches respectively at the end of the ceremony, expressing their resolution to make the training rewarding and successful. The ceremony ended in complete success with enthusiastic applause from all of the students and the teachers.
