A Growth Diary of a Neusoft Senior Student as an Intern in Japan
Release time:2015-12-15
I am very glad that Neusoft has offered me such a good opportunity to study in Alpine company, Japan. The main task of my visit of Japan was to learn the Japanese software developing technology, to experience developing process, to conduct cultural communications and to know about Japan’s cultures and customs. During the four months in Japan, I fulfilled my job and meanwhile I enjoyed my own growth.
I arrived in Japan with a nervous and excited heart. But a kind and warm-hearted lady, Ms. Tonouchi from the Personnel Department of Alpine, who met me at the airport, comforted my fear in this distant country. They made a very considerate arrangement for me. When I learned business Japanese in Tokyo, in order to make me know the daily Japanese, they chose four Japanese teachers to teach me, which made me have a preliminary knowledge of the native Japanese of different ages and different speeds of speaking so that I could better communicate with others later when I went to Alpine as an intern. Do as Romans do when in Rome, that’s right. Gradually I got to know that I should adapt to their customs, speak politely and know the business etiquette. What’s more, I knew that I should say hai loudly when I spoke to my superiors and other leaders and it’s rude not to do so. And the pace of life in Japan was really fast and it seemed that everybody from 20 to 60 was busy everyday with high enthusiasm, which of course gave me some invisible pressure. I came to realize that I must try my best and depend on myself so that I could live in such a developed country. When I talked with the executive vice president, he gave my instructions patiently and expected me to bring what I learned back to China.
Environments are particularly emphasized in Japan. Walking in the street in Japan, you can’t see any litter and anyone who litters. They categorize the garbage and cans are washed before they are thrown away. They throw away the paper drink boxes after tearing up and folding. As I had expected, the cities are very clean and tidy and people there try their best not to bother others and manage everything on their own if possible. In addition, people from the Personnel Department always showed me around Tokyo at the weekends. They were so considerate that they always took me out on tours on the thought that it was my first visit there and I might be lonely. During outing, they introduced Japanese culture to me and made me know more about Japan and Japanese culture so that I could easily get used to life there.
During my internship in the software developing department in Alpine company in Fukushima, an instructor assigned me tasks every day. Japanese people place much importance on deadlines and they must finish their task before the deadline. When I got some problems with the program, the instructor always explained to me patiently. Every day in Japan, I felt I learned a lot and gained much experience. I was deeply immersed in the good enterprise atmosphere and knew the company better. Automobile audio and navigation are the main businesses of Japanese Alpine Inc., in whose logo there are five strips with corresponding meaning: Best Engineering, Best Quality, Best Service, Best Market Share and Best Partner. Alpine staff have been striving for this goal. And with such a good philosophy, I believe, Alpine can create better products. Japanese people are punctual and good at making plans, which must clarify the goal and expected results. In comparison with the result, Japanese pay more attention to the process. As long as you do your best, your boss will not criticize you in spite of failure. They also attach great importance to honesty, and it is very difficult to establish the trusting relationship if you lose others’ trust. So, everything should be dealt with carefully and we should work for a definite goal and learn to plan our own life. I learned a lot when communicating with Japanese people. They were friendly to foreigners, which made me moved very much. In the company I made a lot of friends, who were willing to teach diligent persons.
Besides the internship, I joined in the badminton club of the company and practiced playing with Japanese colleagues twice a week. They were serious with everything including sports. They are professional and skill-focused. They were patient in teaching me many things from moves to rules, which led to my improvement of skills in several months. It is a different feeling to get along with Japanese during spare time. While working, they are very careful and with a tense spirit. Out of work, they are very outgoing, relaxed and approachable. On the Golden Week holidays, I visited the five lakes of Fuji and saw the attraction of Fuji Mountain, whose reflection made Lake Motosu more beautiful. I also went to Yokohama Hakkei Jima, Disneyland and felt the long-tasting characteristics of Japanese tradition and the modernity.
Living in Japan for four months, I have got different experience from others. I have learned a lot, accumulated much experience, understood more Japanese culture and made a lot of friends. I am very grateful to the institute for offering me such an excellent opportunity, which has broadened my insight, widened my vision and helped me clarify my striving direction. Now I have grown up more and my ideas have also been more mature. The internship in Japan has left me a lot of beautiful memories, and I hope to commit myself to the friendly development between Japan and China. In the near future, I’m sure, the Sino-Japan friendly relationship will be improved with the effort of our generation. It has also been my wishes. I will continue to work hard on the Japanese language and handle every task with a careful attitude in future jobs. I am thankful to the cultivation of Neusoft. I will show the best of my abilities as a Neusoft student and live up to the hope of Neusoft II.
