“New Era New Net, Google Conveys a New Perspective—Google’s National College Lecture Tour”, jointly run by both the Student Union of our college and Google, was held at A1-306 of Neusoft college on 13th March. This lecture, with the topic of “People Orientation, Cultural Innovation” has drawn much attention of the students. Google, meanwhile, availed himself of this chance to show Google’s new vision and new concept to the teachers and students present.     The speaker of the lecture was Yang Wei, Manager of Product Management of Google, who has been CTO in a well-known internet firm – 263.net. He was both kind and humorous and the atmosphere was free and lively.     Beginning with easy questions, Yang Wei gradually conducted the students to the setup and development of Google, including the specific patterns. “Our final challenge is how to improve user interface” said Yang Wei, “And at present, our solution is to put the rich information on several fixed positions. Such design keeps the consistency of the product and the user will be accustomed to it even if the position of the vertical result gets more flexible. At the same time, other vertical results such as press, video and the books’ design are consistent and compatible with the web. ” Many students present with good PC skills, had lively interaction during the lecture. Yang Wei could not help but deplored, “the pupils outdo the masters.”     After that, the CTO of Google showed their technical innovation, such as Google Music, Google Earth, Google Translation, etc. These kinds of technology improved the previous loopholes, and provided the users with more convenient service. Google earth, in particular, adopted sophisticated technology, simulated the real life situations and made people really feel every corner of the world. “Just use Google Earth, and you are able to go to the Mars.”     Finally, Yang Wei explained to the students Google’s business concept, advanced innovation, and its teamwork spirit. He said that innovation, as one of the most passionate and energetic words nowadays, was a progressive ladder form involving science. It was also a steric phenomenon which reflected the laws of the social renewal and the cultural elements’ function in the new economic system. The technological innovation gave impetus to the industrialized progress that decided the operation modes of enterprises, which in reverse influenced or even decided innovative concept during the same time and field. Google’s sensitivity towards innovation and its yearning for setting up a new innovative mode derived from its particular culture.
