On 26th March, the seminar of Si Chun Province high colleges cooperating and cultivating net technical talents was held in Cheng Du University of Electric Science and Technology. In this meeting, the opening ceremony of Cisco Networking Technology Institution was held and 16 Colleges including Chengdu Electromechanical College became its members , which represented the successful accomplishment of 3rd Cisco networking equipment donation activity directed by Education Department High professional Computer Education and Steering committee. Wu Jianning, the Secretary of the committee, attended the meeting on behalf of the committee and delivered a speech. In March of 2009, Education and Steering Committee organized the application work for Cisco networking equipment donation activity, targeting high colleges in Si Chuan province, and received the optimistic response from plenty of high colleges. At last, Chengdu Electromechanical College and other 15 schools passed the serious research and became the beneficiaries of the 3rd Cisco donation. Each school would receive the donation of net equipment and platform valued $130,000, and became Cisco Networking Technology Institution. It was reported that prior to this activity Computer Education and Steering Committee had held the 1st donation ceremony for 24 high colleges in Dalian, and the 2nd for 17 high colleges in Hang Zhou. Till now, all the donated networking equipment in the first two activities had been in place. Project background: on July 1st, 2008, Si Chuan Provincial Government and Cisco Company had signed cooperation memorandum on supporting the Earthquake disaster area reconstruction and economic development. As one of the terms in this memorandum, Cisco Company would strengthen the education and training on all levels, low, middle and high, and built the talent basis for Si Chuan IT industry. This project was an important part in the memorandum signed by Cisco Company and Education Department on the Project of Cooperating with High Colleges and Cultivating Net Technical Talents. Now, Cisco Company mainly entrusted Education and Steering Committee to complete the task of selecting the applicants for the donation among high colleges.
