Mr. John Vu from the Boeing Company addressed at our institute

In the afternoon of March 26, Chief Engineer of the Boeing Company, Mr. John Vu gave a speech at A5-602 of our institute. Assistant to President of the institute, professor Liu Chunyu was present at the speech. The speech was hosted by Wang Huan, Foreign Affairs Minister of International Cooperation and Exchange Center.
First of all, Assistant to President of the institute, professor Liu Chunyu expressed his sincere welcome to Mr. John Vu, and he also hoped his speech could enrich students’ knowledge, promote their development and gain their experiences.
Subsequently, John Vu Mr gave the speech with the topic of “Global Trend in Software Engineering” .Mr. John Vu said that the software engineering was a promising career. According to the survey, the number of people engaged in the software industry was 12 million at present, while in 2010, it would grow to 17 million. In the 21st century, the software industry would become the career with the greatest developing prospect. The influence of the financial crisis on the software industry was very limited, which showed that software talents were in great demand all over the world. Study showed that major companies were now in urgent need of software technical personnel, especially in the software architecture and software integration. The Boeing Company and Neusoft also hoped to maintain the good relationship in commercial cooperation. John put forward that the most promising direction of software engineering was database software, data mining and data integration. Network developed very quickly, but the further exploration into it was not enough. And data mining and integration was just one of the most important technologies in this field. John hoped that students of Neusoft would be able to learn the software engineering well and became the elite of the software industry.
John mentioned that Carnegie Mellon University and our institute were negotiating about joint education program. Every student of Neusoft has the opportunity to study in Carnegie Mellon University. He also hoped that he can give classes to students of Neusoft himself. John was looking forward to cooperating with Carnegie Mellon University .
After his speech, Mr. John Vu had the enthusiastic interactions with students. John told students that they could make a progress by learning, while learning itself was endless, especially in the software industry, where knowledge was updated rapidly, developed quickly, so continuous effort should be put into it.
After the meeting, reporters interviewed Mr. John Vu and Professor Liu Chunyu. John Vu said that students of Neusoft are with potential capabilities in the software industry, and have a good command of English. He hoped they could learn persistently so as to gain the knowledge. John pointed out that Neusoft was a software-based institute with all teaching facilities, and a comprehensive teaching system. These had served as a foundation for the cooperation of two schools and ensure a bright prospect.
Mr John Vu is the chief engineer and senior technical member who provide technical support for the research and development of commercial aircraft and Boeing’s global partners. He is also the senior scientist of International Software Research Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, conducting the special study on development of global software and systems engineering, is the lead assessor of CMMI and P-CMM authorized by SEI.
