The Cooperation between NII and Konkuk University leaps to a new stage

The afternoon of September 23, Wu mingyi, the President of Konkuk University and other six delegates visited our Institute. Wen Tao, the president of NII , Liu Chunyu, president"s assistant, Yanglu, president of the Institute of International Education, and Guanquan, the vice-dean of Department of Computer Science and Technology warmly welcomed them, and held talks with them. During the talks, the two sides first briefly reviewed the history of cooperation, and warmly discussed with each other on the issue of double degree project, top-up program, teacher exchanges, and students exchanges. Ultimately we signed "Framework Agreement of Double Degree Project between China Dalian NII and South Korea"s Konkuk University "(hereinafter referred to as "dual-degree Agreement"). Through this contact and talk, there was a breakthrough in all its breadth and depth of cooperation between the two schools. This was a new milestone in the history of cooperation between the two universities. First, the signing of the "Double-Degree Agreement" broke through the single mode of exchange students. We made a new breakthroughs in double-degree, Top-up program and other aspects. Konkuk University ranks 13th in South Korea and is our strategic choice on business to South Korea. The cooperation of double-degree project and top-up program played a very positive role in deepening our international strategy and enhancing the value of students. According to the agreement, the exchange of students in two schools is mainly on the four-year undergraduate, but also including some outstanding three-year junior graduates. Under this agreement, students from any majors who met the requirements of language capacity could study the related majors for two years in the other school and received the two universities" diplomas after achieving all the credits and passing oral defense of the thesis Secondly, the two sides agreed to expand the scale of exchange of students. Prior to this, two schools” exchange students were limited to major of Computer Science and Technology. Each semester 7 to 10 students were exchanged to study in the other school. This time, two sides made an agreement to extend to 30 to 60 students, and broke the restriction on the major of Computer Science and Technology, would spread this programs to the students from Department of Information Technology and Business Administration, English Department and Department of Digital Arts. Teachers of specialized courses were sent to teach the exchange students both in English and Chinese, and the South Korean students would be taught in English. The spring semester"s selection of exchange students for the Konkuk University has been started and 60 students would be sent to Konkuk University, in which 20 from of Computer Science and Technology, 20 Department of Information Technology and Business Administration, 10 from English Department and 10 from Department of Digital Arts. The work of enrollment and selection was Finally, the two sides made a new progress in the exchange of teachers. Through this talk, we would put the content of sending teachers in the agreement, and in next year"s spring semester, would sent three backbone teachers in Seoul campus and Chungju campus, teaching the exchange students sent for Konkuk University both in Chinese and English. At present, Institute of International Education and other related departments were discussing about the selection of the teachers.
