Enhance the Competitiveness of Specialty by Professional Skills Training

The Second Text Input Competition of Dalian NII, which is jointly sponsored by Academic Affairs Department and Student Affairs Department, and hosted by Computer Science Department, was completely closed on January 7. Che Ruwen, Secretary of CPC of Dalian NII, Cao Yunfeng, Vice President of Dalian NII, Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of CPC of Dalian NII and other institute’s administrations attended the competition. Competition is divided into preliminaries, department-level selection and institute-level final competition as well as summary recognition. All Grade 2009 students are required to participate in the preliminary round and their scores of various stages of the competition should be included in the grade of Basic Computer Course. Final competition is among the teams formed by 10 students from each department, including individual and collective awards. The preliminary is conducted in the classroom of Basic Computer Course. Department-level competition is organized by each department. The final institute-level competition is held in the classroom designated by the Institute. The individual award is determined by individual final scores, and collective ranking is based on the total scores of each person in the team gained in the final competition. After careful selection and training, each department team exhibits the solid foundation of text input skills by student’s flying like fingers on the keyboard. After fierce competition, eventually, 6 students from Team 1 of Computer Science Department and Department of Information Technology and Business Administration won the first prize. The second prize went to Qi Tingting and other 10 students from Computer Science Department. Song Shishuo and other 14 students from English Department received the third prize. Li Wenjun and other 22 students from Embedded Systems Department won the Award of Excellence. Team 1 and Team 2 of Computer Science Department, Team of Department of Information Technology and Business Administration won the first, second and third collective prizes respectively. Embedded System Department and Computer Science Department won the Award of Best Organization.The Text Input competition promotes teaching reform of Basic Computer Course, enriches students’ second classroom activities, improves students’ computer application ability, directs students to full use of their laptops for learning, creates a good learning environment in campus, and enhances students’ ability of employment.
