DNUI Students Won Great Prizes in Multi Provincial English Contests

Recently, DNUI students won great prizes in a series of national contests including the 19th China Daily “the 21st Century •Coca-Cola Cup” National College students English Speaking Contest, “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest and the National Interpreting Contests. With the uniform organization of English Department, our students achieved one provincial grand prize (Champion), one provincial first prize, three provincial second prizes, and four provincial third prizes. The 19th China Daily “the 21st Century •Coca-Cola Cup” national college students English Speaking Contest was hosted by China Daily and undertaken by 21st Century (English), which achieved highly complementary remarks and great support from Ministry of Education and international English education authorities. More than sixty players competed in the Liaoning Provincial semi-finals and they were from a number of colleges and universities of Liaoning Province, including Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian University of Technology, etc. There were, in total, three grand prizes, six first prizes, and eight second prizes in Liaoning Province. Our university’s student, Liu Site, from Class 11001, English Department (majors in Business English), won the Champion in the Liaoning Provincial Final Contest, and he also represented Liaoning Province to attend the national final contest. “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest was co-hosted by Foreign Education and Research Press, Advisory Board for College Foreign Language Teaching MOE,and Advisory Committee on Teaching English Languages to Majors MOC. The first “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest (the semi-final of Liaoning Province) was held at Shenyang University. Over seventy students took part in the contest and they were from Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University, Liaoning University, etc. DNUI’s students Xu Yizi, from Class 10005, English Department, and Dong Xuewen, from Class 12002, Department of Computer Science and Technology, won the 1st and 3rd Prizes respectively. The 3rd National Interpreting Contest (English) was co-hosted by Translators Association of China and China Translation & Publishing Corporation and it was the largest and authoritative interpreting contest. Sixty-seven competitors, from twenty-four colleges and universities of Liaoning Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, took part in the contest and three DNUI’s players from English Department won provincial 2nd prizes.
