Electronic design automation (EDA) Platform of Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information is part of Mentor Graphics global university plan and also one of the most advanced IC design tools with a commercial value of 90 million dollars. Early in March 2009, with the positive efforts , Department of Embedded System Engineering of Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information won a three-year Mentor Graphics university plan which provided the students in Electronic Information Engineering (Electronic Design and System) with the advanced teaching and experimenting environment of the international level and laid a solid base for the relevant research. The platform contains tools and software in Digital and analog integrated circuit, mixed analog-digital design and simulation, testability design, formal verification, physical verification, which could meet the need of teaching and research in EDA. Over three years, based on this platform, with the advanced TOPCARES-CDIO engineering education concept, the department has organized its professional teachers to design and develop experimental courses for seven subjects including VLSI Circuit Design and several course projects and comprehensive yearly design projects and achieved great teaching outcome. Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information has become one of the universities adopting the platform to teach and achieving great outcomes. This March, the 2009-2012 plan of the platform was due. Although Mentor Graphics had cut the number for this plan in Greater China, Dalian Neusoft Institute of Information has won the plan again and upgraded the platform successfully because of the good use of the platform and the noticeable teaching outcomes it achieved.
