Release time:2015-12-15
After the rain during Qingming season, the spring breeze blows warmly. At 3:30 p.m. of April 10th, the theme salon of “Set Sail for Your Dream” was held, as in the series of “WeRoadShow”. This “WeRoadShow” specially invited three software-engineering majors from Computer Department of our university: Yan Xugang and Gao Chuang of Grade 2011, and Lu He of Grade 2006, to introduce the projects in their companies and to share the bitterness and happiness during their entrepreneurial processes.
As the founder of the Blue Sea Workshop, Yan Xungang has established a start-up team concentrating on the mobile Internet. Currently, the workshop’s main product is the Menu Box designed for ordering food in dining halls on campus with the aim to reduce students’ queuing time. Before this, Yan and his team had set up and operated the Jingting Music, the Xiayimiao Forum, Shiguangyinji, a website building Project, and developed a point-accumulation platform of public benefit activities for Zhuhai Branch School of Beijing Institute of Technology. He believes that our future is in the next second; he hopes to be the Bill Gates of China to make the world a better place; he encourages the students to fulfil their dreams in spite of the outside distraction; he welcomes the students with common goals to join his team.
“Others may copy my model, but nobody can copy my hardship and my passion for exploring the frontier constantly.” No other words can better describe Gao Chuang, founder of the Design For (Dizao) Workshop. Focusing on works of micro films and movies or TV, Design For Workshop has taken part in the shooting of TV plays of “Story of Dalian”, “The Temptation of Lies”, which are his company’s representative works. In the WeRoadShow, Gao shared his entrepreneurial journeys: learn to strike a balance between art and market through shooting advertising videos and playing minor roles; through reflecting on the previous experiences and thinking repeatedly, establish his own workshop to share ideas by means of micro films. Finally, he concluded his WeRoadShow with a movie line which can be translated into “I hope to make just a little difference to the world.” Gao inspired the students with “no pain, no gain” to establish new business fearlessly.
Lu He is the CEO of FOCUSONE (Dalian FOCUSONE Technologies Co. Ltd.). It is a start-up company dealing with development and application of mobile solutions, the main product being the MOTILINK, mobile office software for enterprises. Lu is fluent with four languages and has a four-year experience of working in Korea, both of which fuels his confidence to develop his career back in China. In the question-answering section, Li Hongli, an English major, asked, “Do you have plans to expand your business to other countries?” Lu answered, “At present, the focus of FOCUSONE is in China. We will firstly lay a solid foundation in China before the further development.” Lu’s goal is to be increasingly steadier and further step by step. He calls on the students to broaden their horizons, have their dreams and pursue the future courageously.
Ma Yun once said, “There are three qualities that make a successful entrepreneur: insight, ambition, and power.” The three pioneers of business establishment vividly demonstrated these three elements with their dream-pursuing journey and encouraged the students to work hard for innovation and entrepreneurship and to be true to who they really are. The WeRoadShow ended successfully with the students’ warm applause. It was desired that the next WeRoadShow can be on very soon. SOVO will continue with the cultural series of activities of innovation and entrepreneurship and make great efforts for a cultural atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship.
