On September 12, the European-style buildings of DNUI campus appeared more elegant and grander with the refreshing autumn breeze blowing and white clouds drifting in the blue sky of coastal city Dalian. The red welcome banners, floating balls and colored flags filled this castle-like campus with festive atmosphere. The 2020 freshmen left home and gathered here in the name of dream, embarking on a new journey in life.
Walking through the red arch and entering the Third Dormitory Area, unfolded before your eyes was the bold theme board of "In the Name of Dream", which carried the blessings and expectations for new students. On the right side of the road was the detailed registration flow chart, which was convenient for freshmen to follow. In strict accordance with the epidemic prevention and control requirements, DNUI set spots for temperature taking, disinfection, and health code scanning at the entrance of the Second & Third Dormitory Area. The freshmen and their parents were allowed to enter the campus after registration under the guidance of staff and volunteers. A body temperature detection device was also set up in the dormitory buildings. Only after printing the registration flow chart and having the body temperature taken at the entrance, can one be permitted to enter the dormitory.
Meanwhile, in order to improve the efficiency of registration, the Undergraduate Affairs Office & Student Development and Service Office of the Party Committee, together with the Network and Information Center developed a one-stop self-service registration system. Before the freshmen came to DNUI, they had already logged on to the system to confirm pick-up service, the class and student number, and to pay tuition fees and select dormitory bed. Once filling in the online information in advance, one could complete the whole registration procedures within just one minute by on-site verification.
Ren Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of DNUI, went to inspect the registration work, and learned in detail about the epidemic prevention and control arrangements for new students and the real-time number of registration of each secondary school. He said: “This year is very unusual. Thus we have formulated a 16-character work policy of 'fully prepared, safe and stable, enthusiastic and thoughtful, smooth and efficient'. All departments and secondary schools have cooperated with each other in a perfect way, ensuring an efficient and orderly on-site registration. I hope you will cherish your college life and adapt yourselves to the life and study here as soon as possible."
In order to welcome new students from afar, the Logistic Management Department and the canteen prepared a unique "first meeting gift" for new students according to the northern tradition of "Eating dumplings on departure and noodles upon arrival". The “Yuan Qi” noodles, symbolizing full vitality when facing the future, carried great care from the DNUI family to new students. “My first impression of the campus is that it is big and beautiful. Many details of the registration also make me feel very warm. I will work hard on my major, and hope to figure out my future plan and realize my dream." said Zhang Xiaojing, a Financial Management major from Class 20005, the School of Information and Business Management.
